GENERAL DENTISTRY
Our aim is to promote and maintain good oral health for our patients and this is what general dentistry aims to achieve. We provide a range of comprehensive dental services that keep your teeth healthy and strong for years. Our dental experts specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of all dental conditions that range from simple routine check-ups to complex dental surgeries
We strongly believe that prevention is better than cure. This is why we promote routine dental examinations so any problems are detected at an early stage when the treatment requires is simpler and easier and actually makes going to the dentist a much more pleasant experience.
Our consultations include a full medical history to identify any conditions of significance, a thorough dental examination, radio graphs, study models and photographs as appropriate. We will discuss with you all treatment options and provide you with a written estimate and treatment plan.
Our range of preventative treatments include:
Routine check-ups – We recommend that you visit your dentist once in six months for a routine dental check-up. During your visit, our general dentist will inspect your teeth and gums and identify any issues that can lead to tooth decay or periodontal disease. With proper care and attention, most dental problems such as cavities and gum disease can be prevented. Our oral hygienist will also recommend a suitable oral plan to keep your teeth healthy till your next dental visit.
Teeth Cleaning – Regular professional dental cleaning is recommended to prevent the build-up of plaque and tartar on your teeth and gums. Oral hygiene practices such as regular brushing and flossing might not be able to remove hard deposits from hard to reach areas in your mouth. Continual build-up of plaque and tartar can lead to gingivitis and severe periodontal disease that may even lead to loss of teeth
Oral Hygiene Sessions:
How you clean and look after your teeth when you leave the dental clinic is so important to the health of your mouth and so we spend time to explain and demonstrate different methods that you can use to keep your mouth fresh and healthy. Did you know that it is better to use a fluoride mouthwash after a meal than to brush your teeth?
Diet Analysis:
The diet has a huge impact on oral health – this doesn’t necessary mean that all sweet foods are restricted! By just changing the frequency, amounts and types of sweet foods you can look after your teeth and health whilst still continuing to enjoy the foods you like.
Fissure Sealants:
Fissure Sealants cover the grooves and crevices on the surface of the molar teeth to create a smooth surface so that food and debris does not get caught in these areas and cause decay. They are a great way to protect your children’s teeth
Fluoride Application
Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It also reverses early decay. In children under six years of age, fluoride becomes incorporated into the development of permanent teeth, making it difficult for acids to demineralize the teeth.
Oral Cancer Screening:
Oral cancer is treatable if detected at an early stage and the majority of cases are found by dentists during routine dental examinations. This is a very important feature of our dental examinations.
Extraction – Tooth extraction is sometimes necessary when the tooth is badly damaged for effective repair solutions. This happens when a tooth is broken, loose or decayed to a large extent. Extraction will also help prevent the spread of infection from the decayed tooth to other areas in your mouth.’
